Corporations must be represented by an attorney when they file bankruptcy, but an individual my represent himself in bankruptcy court. While allowed, filing a bankruptcy case without an attorney is extremely difficult to do successfully. The Federal Courts expect "Pro se" litigants to follow the rules that govern procedures in federal courts. They also need to be familiar with the United States Bankruptcy Code and the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.
